The Essential Women's Sport Event Schedule 2020
2020 Women’s Sport Event Schedule
*Not updated to reflect latest changes due to covid
We’ve created this month-by-month women’s sport schedule for 2020 that features major global events and key competitions across Australia, England, New Zealand, and USA for 35 different sports so you can stay across all the women’s sport action this year. More importantly, we hope this calendar of key dates and events helps Marketers, Sponsors, Media and Sport Organisations better activate, promote and commercially evaluate women’s sport in 2020. We’ve also included a list below of 18 major events taking place this year.
How Brands, Right’s Holders & Media can leverage this women’s sport schedule
1. Evaluate women’s sport commercial opportunities
Act as an overview for Sponsors and Brands when looking at what events or competitions may be of interest and best align to key sales and campaign periods for sponsorship.
2. Content planning
To help formulate your content calendar and decide what women’s sports events you want to create or curate content around that tie in with your brand pillars.
3. Sponsorship collaboration
To evaluate what other competitions or events may provide opportunities for Sport Organisations to collaborate based on shared or opposing timings, seasons and regions. For example, a winter football and summer cricket competition in New Zealand may team up to form a joint sponsor proposal across both properties to offer one Brand a year-long sponsorship opportunity.
4. Cross-promotion
Both Sport Organisations and Sponsors can evaluate what competitions or other Sponsors may make sense to collaborate with in order to drive reach and interest in each parties key events and sponsor activations. For example, Melbourne United who play in Australia’s National Basketball League teamed up with the Australian Open to host their game against the Perth Wildcats in a special ‘AO Game’ which provided fans with access to both events as well as marketing on both properties channels.
5. Tuning in
Staying up-to-date with what women’s sport events are happening each week so you can tune in but also plan all the great women’s sports stories that can be told in the media.
*Handy tip - Just Women’ s Sports have a dedicated women’s sport weekly schedule that shows you where you can watch all your favourite women’s sport events (it is primarily US focused but also includes global viewing platforms where available).
